As I have mentioned before, my boy constantly amazes me at his growth and development. He has become quite the expert at imitating. He copies mommy and daddy, animals, cars, and a myriad of other interesting sounds. His imitations don't always sound exactly like the original, but he sure tries! The need to imitate never stops as we grow. We copy fashion, technology, words, eating habits, etc. The Bible gives us clear instructions to imitate Christ as seen in Ephesians 5:1, "Therefore be imitators of God, as dear children." Just as Timothy might not copy a sound exactly right, we cannot be perfect imitations either. However, with the Holy Spirit's help, we can daily strive to be more like our omniscient, omnipotent, holy God in each area of our life. I pray for opportunities to imitate my Lord today!
