Last night and this morning it has been pouring outside!! I absolutely love the sound of rain on the roof, but this morning I started hearing another sound. It almost sounded like the washer was starting and then a pipe was draining. At first I didn't worry about it, but it kept happening over and over again. I started to get worried. A broken washer or pipe was not what we needed (especially on our day off!!) I called Adam down to the basement and had him listen to the trickling water and strange draining sound. It was at that point that my smart hubby calmly explained that he was pretty sure it was just the pump installed in our basement to make sure it didn't flood. The small reservoir fills with water and then regularly drains. Whew! What a relief!! The strange sound I had been hearing suddenly changed from being worrisome to kind of comforting! How many times do we struggle discerning the sounds in our day to day lives?? We worry about things that never come to pass, and we mistake God's blessings for hindrances or wastes of time. A good reminder is found in Isaiah 55:8, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord."
