What do you crave???

I recently read a Facebook status written by one of my college friends who is expecting her second baby. She was joking that her baby would definitely have a sweet tooth one day, because she kept craving (and giving into) this........

She then went on to ask the question, "Why can't I crave healthy things like this......."

I realize that she was just joking around about her pregnancy cravings, but it started me thinking about all of the cravings and desires we have in life.

*When I ought to be craving God's Word, I check Facebook.....

*When I should be desiring some extra time in prayer, I turn on a morning talk show......

*When I could be challenging myself with a good book, I flip through make-up tips in a magazine.....

Now is it a SIN check my Facebook notifications, watch Rachael Ray, or get some ideas from a magazine???  No......but is it the best use of my time??? Maybe not.

Life would be so much easier if I could crave the things that were really good for me
 (both physically and spiritually)!

I am encouraged, however, by the fact that I am not alone. The Apostle Paul wrote about this exact same problem in his life in Romans Chapter 7:

18For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. 19For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. 20Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.

So.....what's the answer??? If even Paul didn't have the ability to do what he knew was right???
Check out Ephesians 3:7:

I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of His power.

I want to make this my prayer:

God, give me the desire through your grace to spend time with You, to seek YOUR face above everything else. Help me to turn to YOUR power in my time of need and hurt. I want to know YOU more today!

Do you struggle with desiring God's best in your life?
