My handsome prince.....

It was a regular weekday morning. I was waiting in the college administration building for any guests that may show up for the campus tours I led. I was relieved when it looked like I wouldn't need to give a tour that morning. Every junior in college could use some extra time to catch up on reading or better yet sleep!! As I was walking out of the building I saw a familiar face. It was one of my dad's students. "Hi," we both said as we passed one another. As I continued to walk out the door, I heard, "Hey, um, Rachel???" I turned to see Adam still standing there (looking a little nervous). "Would you like to go to church with me on Wednesday?" Wow! That was a surprise! We had only met once or twice before, but he always seemed really nice. "Sure!", I said. That first date turned into many more. The more we got to know each other, the more things seemed to simply fall into place. I never felt like I had to force the relationship to work. I had met the man of my dreams. He is kind, good-looking, funny, sensitive, balanced, hard-working, smart, sweet, etc.... God had given me my very own handsome prince.
Six months later, Adam proposed to me in a beautiful restaurant in Mobile, AL. (Yes, I was completely surprised!!) We were married in May of 2005, and are still madly in love. In fact, I never truly understood how love can grow stronger over time. I love him so much more today than 41/2 years ago! The challenge for us is to not get caught up in the routines of life (caring for a toddler, church ministry, car problems, grocery shopping, etc). It's important to nurture that love so that it can continue to grow for many, many more years! I hope you'll take time today to reflect on God's blessing in your life, through your spouse.
