I can still remember my first DM (direct message) on Twitter. It was from one of my favorite Christian vocal groups, and the message said something like..."Thanks for the follow!! Make sure to also follow "Name" and "Name"! God Bless!"
I was SO excited! I mean, I'm sure not many people get personal messages from popular artists! It wasn't until months later that I learned about Auto DM's which are an automated message from the "tweeter" to the new follower to "connect".
I'm not writing all of this to get into a discussion about whether Auto DM's are good or bad, but I do remember feeling disappointed when I first figured out that those messages aren't really personal or direct at all!! The sender had NO idea who I was! I wasn't as cool as I though! =)
God uses DM's as well, but His are a little different.
His words were penned over 1,600 years by 40 different authors, yet His Word contains unity.
He spoke His words with an understanding of who we are as His creations.
Although Scripture can apply to all of us, the Holy Spirit uses God's Word to be specific and personal in our lives.
As 2 Timothy 3:16 says,
