Lessons from the garden: Part 2...

It may sound strange, but I enjoy a rainy day once in a while! It's fun to stay inside, cuddle, read a book, and drink a warm cup of coffee! I also really love listening to a summer storm in the middle of the night! However, I do get a little stir crazy after days and days of rain. I start wishing for some warm sunshine to break through the clouds. We teach our children that God created rain to help the plants grow and flourish. Rain is NECESSARY for the health of plants!
I think that the same is true in our lives. It is vital that storms come into our life in order for us to grow! Does that sound harsh? Think about the benefits of hard circumstances in our life:

*We are driven to search the scripture for answers to our problems.
*We spend an increased amount of time in prayer for wisdom in those storms.
*We are forced to stop and admit our reliance on an Almighty God.

These are just a few outcomes of difficulties in our life, but all of them lead to one thing: Spiritual Growth! Just as a summer rainstorm is essential to healthy plants, life's storms are important for our continued growth in Christ. Remember, however, that we have an all-powerful God to run to in time of need and struggle. He promises to be our safety and haven through the inevitable storms of life. Rest in Him!

Psalm 4:8, " I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. "
