Warning: Convicting Content.....

Last week, our home internet modem died! Unfortunately, it happened over the weekend which meant that the repair guy wasn't able to make it until Tuesday afternoon. That left us without internet access for about 48 hours or so....
I was amazed at how lost I felt without that online connection. I couldn't WAIT for the repairman to get it fixed so I could check my e-mails, write blog posts, comment on Facebook pictures, and of course, Tweet about it all!

And then it hit me.....

What if someone took away my Bible (God's messages to ME) for 48 hours? How would I react?
The convicting realization hit me that I probably wouldn't feel the same about God's Word as I did about modern technology. I know I wouldn't have felt such an intense urgency to get it back as soon as possible.

Then I took that thought even further....

What if my Bible was taken away from me FOREVER?? Have I hidden enough of His precious Word in my heart and mind that I could survive without the printed page?

My husband and I give to the Voice of the Martyrs each month, and we receive their monthly newsletter/magazine. It's amazing to read about the present day believers who are suffering for their faith. Many of them don't have access to a Bible, and have to rely on what they have memorized.

While Christianity is safe (so far) here in the United States, there may come a day when I will suffer that same persecution. Am I prepared? Are YOU prepared?

May this verse be the desire of my heart today:

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
